Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, The Andhra Pradesh police carried out searches at the premises of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP CM Ramesh, A Rajya Sabha member and CM Naidu’s close aide at Potkadurti in the state’s Kadapa district on Friday. Ramesh alleged that the Election Commission is under the control of PM Narendra Modi and Jagan Reddy. TDP is upset with the move and has called for the protests across the state.

Chandrababu Naidu alleged the other political parties behind the conducted raids in the premises of TDP officials. Chandrababu Naidu has repeatedly stated that the I-T raids and searches on TDP leaders were taking place at the behest of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre.

Ramesh allegedly said, “They(police officials) said that they were given orders from above,” claiming that the police is under the control of the Election Commission as the model code of conduct is in place and they are doing their duty. However, Ramesh said that the YSRCP is interfering in the move. This is the reason why police are targeting only the TDP leaders.

Ramesh in his report said that a large number of police officials arrived at his house around 6 am on Friday. He said that no seizures were taken place from his residence. Ramesh in his statements said the there are political motives behind the raids.

This is the second time that searches have been carried out at Ramesh’s residence. Last year in October, similar searches were made by the IT-department that was carried out for two regular days, including the MP’s company Rithwik Projects in Hyderabad. these raids were also conducted on the TDP leaders and industrialists Beeda Masthan Rao and Andhra Pradesh Minister K Narayana.

The TDP leaders have questioned the Election Commission as to why similar searches are not being carried out at the premises of BJP leaders and other party leaders.
