Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was responsible for violating the Model Code of conduct by using references like “Modiji Ki Sena” while he was addressing at a rally in Ghaziabad. The reference has violated the instruction given by election commission to refrain from using the defense forces for political propaganda. The EC in its report advised the BJP leader to be more careful while using his remarks.

In view of the code of Conduct in operation, Election Commission on Friday held Yogi Adityanath accountable for using army remarks to gain political influence of the people in his campaign.

The EC also cautioned the Niti Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajeev Kumar remarks for criticizing Congress‘ poll promise of the minimum Income guarantee. The EC concluded that his remarks have violated the Model Code of Conduct and has asked him to exercise caution in the future.

The Election Commission on Monday took cognizance of Yogi’s remarks and asked the Ghaziabad district administration to submit a report of his pseech in the rally. “The report confirmed that he indeed made the comments,” a source said.

Election Commission has averred that Yogi being a senior leader, is expected to be more responsible with his public utterances. The EC has asked him to be more mindful of the instructions given by the EC and avoid any references to the defense forces during elections.

In a rally in Ghaziabad on Sunday, BJP leaders and Adityanath were addressing the public when following remarks were made by Yogi Aditya Nath that condemned him for his violation of Model Code. He said “Congress ke log aatankwadiyon ko biryani khilate the aur Modi Ji ki sena aatankwadiyon ko goli aur gola deti hai. (Congress would feed ‘biryani’ to terrorists, while Modi’s army gives them bullets and bombs). This is the difference. The Congress people use ‘Ji’ to refer to Masood Azhar to encourage terrorism.”

The Election Commission on March 19 has asked the political parties to “desist” from indulging in any propaganda involving actions taken by defense forces during their Lok Sabha poll campaigns to influence the people of the area.

The following conclusion of EC came after it asked the political parties to refrain themselves from using pictures od defense personnel in their campaign material.
