The youth Congress wing online magazine Yuva Desh, on Tuesday, tweeted a meme that featured Prime Minister Narendra Modi having a conversation with US President Donald Trump and Thersa May. The meme showed was considered by many as being classist.

Though as soon as the meme was tweeted, it received strong criticism and was soon deleted. Youth Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Brar also apologized for the meme and cleared that the youth wing’s twitter handle was not Indian Youth Congress but by volunteers.

Suraj Hegde, Yuva Desh in-charge also apologized saying that “We condemn this and are apologetic. We are trying to find out who made that tweet as mainly volunteers run that page.”

While the BJP scathing down in the Congress said that the party will have to pay heavily for this meme on the Prime Minister. BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that the damage has already been done and deleting the mem means nothing now. He said that “Now, Yuva Desh deleting the tweet means nothing. The damage is done, be it intentional or unintentional. This also clearly shows the feudal mindset of the Congress.”

BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra said that by posting the ‘Chaiwala’  meme Congress has not only personally attacked the Prime Minister but they have also abused 6 crores Gujaratis and 125 crore Indians. He further added that the country has seen the results of comments like ‘Maut ka Saudagar’  and Mani Shankar Iyer’s abuse, and now again Rahul Gandhi and his team have not only abused PM Modi but every single hard-working Gujarati.

He questioned the Congress Vice President saying that “Rahul Gandhi you will have to answer this question. You may be a dynast, but why this contempt for the poor and the poorest of the country? He also challenged that in such situation when the Gujarat assembly polls are just around the corner and such mistake done by the Congress, the people of Gujarat will answer you.

Sudhanshu Trivedi, another spokesperson of BJP, attacking Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and his elevation as the party President said that the basic thing is the timing of this tweet when the biggest democratic dynasty’s sixth generation is all set to take over. At this point, such statement by the Congress shows that they are still victims of the feudalistic mindset and cannit accept a common man who has risen to their stature and has started dominating them.

Trivedi further added that, even if they have deleted the tweet, whatever damage was done cannot be undone.

Meanwhile, the Congress, after apologizing cleared that whoever posted the tweet, it has been deleted now. The party has also alleged that the BJP was misusing the Chiawala meme to sideline the real issues. Amarinder Singh Raja Brar said that “a lot of indecent comments have also been made by the BJP members, on Congress party and Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Despite all of this we respect the Prime Minister and the political opponents.

Youth Congress in-charge Suraj Hegde said that “this chaiwala concept is always played around whenever there is an election. This is being made into a big issue unnecessarily when there are bigger issues like the Rafale deal and delay in the winter session. They are giving statements about chopping heads and cutting off noses or removing fingers, but nobody is talking about that.

The major question that is running in the heads is will the Congress bear the same price it paid back in 2012 for making fun of Modi as a chaiwala?
