Srijan Roy, brother-in-law of BJP leader Mukul Roy has been recently arrested in New Delhi airport by a police force from West Bengal, based on charges of duping countless job-seekers in the railway sector for over 6 years. Srijan has been accused of taking money from several unemployed personnel with the pretext of giving them jobs in the railway sector, without ever living up to his promises.

Along with numerous allegations, Srijan has been arrested with violations of three major sections from the Indian Penal Code. Section 420, reprimanding dishonesty and cheating in the context of delivering property; Section 468, withholding the use of forgery with the intention of cheating; and Section 471, punishing the fraudulent use of forged documents as genuine, are among the major complaints which have been filed against Srijan Roy. The accused was tried at a district court on the 6th of May. Srijan awaits the results of the hearing, remanded to the police custody for 12 days.

When asked to give his views on the current scenario, Mukul Roy did not hesitate to condemn the arrest as a “political conspiracy”. The former Railway Union Minister disregarded the truth behind his brother-in-law’s arrest and stressed on the fact that he is the actual target of the case, and not Srijan.

Being a former member of the opposition party Trinamool Congress, the current BJP leader is convinced that this ‘conspiracy’ is a brainchild of the Chief Minister of West Bengal, TMC member Mamata Banerjee. He argues that Mamata has resorted to creating fake conspiracies against Srijan Roy to target Mukul and his family members indirectly, and his believed explanation is that the Trinamool leader fears the power of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

However, Mukul Roy has confirmed that BJP is not going to be demoralized or make any rash decisions. He intends to solve this conspiracy ‘politically’ rather than attacking anyone personally.
