Following the orders of Supreme Court CBI is scrutinizing the Narada sting operation scam of 2014 and has filed FIR against a number of TMC members believed to be involved in the scam.
Recently CBI has summoned Trinamool MP, Sougata Roy, in connection with the probe on Thursday. Another summons was issued against panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee and TMC MP Kakali Ghosh Dastidar on Friday.
Mamata Banerjee is accusing the CBI of deliberately issuing summons just before the Presidential elections on 17 July and the Trinamool’s rally here on July 21. A TMC party member said that TMC Chief was displeased with these actions of CBI. Party MP Sultan Ahmed and his brother Iqbal Ahmed, a Trinamool Congress MLA and Deputy Mayor of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) were also interrogated by the CBI.
Mamata Banerjee was also summoned by CBI on Wednesday, but she has asked for a few days time to appear before the agency for interrogation through her lawyer on Thursday. She said she will be available to the CBI anytime after 21 July.
