Delhi government led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a number of schemes and welfare measure ahead of Delhi assembly polls. Delhi will go to polls in 2020. The preparation to woo voters have already kicked in.

SOPs for Delhi voters-

  1. CM Arvind Kejriwal launched “Mukhyamantri Kirayedaar Bijli Meter Yojna” for the tenants. Under the scheme, tenants will be allowed to install prepaid meters in their room. This scheme has been chalked out to reduce the quarrels between landlord and tenants over the issue of electricity bill. The government has also announced that it will ensure the home delivery of such prepaid meters.

2. Chief Minister also came out with a ‘Five-point action‘ plan for the resident welfare associations (RWAs). The five-point action plan concerns with the increased efforts to curb Dengue. In this, RWAs have been advised to distribute pamphlet on dengue prevention steps and dengue-free stickers. The announcement of this move came during the much-lauded ’10Hafte10Baje10Minute’ initiative of Arvind Kejriwal.

What is ’10Hafte 10Baje 10Minute’ initiative?

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched the special mass campaign on Sunday titled as “10 Hafte-10 Baje-10 Minute” (10 weeks-10o’clock-10 minutes). The campaign targets the elimination of dengue by inspecting home for stagnant water to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases. He said that according to the reports “repeats cycle every 3-4 years”. In 2015, over 15,000 dengue cases and 60 deaths were reported. In 2016, 2,800 cases were reported.

3. The Chief Minister also vowed that he will soon make Delhi the “first state” to implement the Street Vending Act, 2014, providing legal protection to street vendors and hawkers. In this regard, civic bodies have been directed to conduct a survey of vendors through their respective town vending committees.

Forthcoming Delhi polls have put Aam Aadmi Party in fully charged mode. The party can be seen offering many gifts to the voters ahead of the polls. Previously, CM Kejriwal has also announced to add around 14,000 beds in public hospitals in the city by 2023. The leader also promised that all the households having functional water meters in the capital region will be given a waiver on water arrears. It is expected that the waiver of water arrears will benefit almost 13 lakh people. Connection of 24×7 water supply has been also promised to the voters of Delhi by the AAP government.
