Chief Election Commissioner O P Rawat headed 11 member high level team reviewed the poll preparations and law and order situation in each district of Telangana in Hyderabad on Monday. The team is on a three-day visit to the state since Monday.

The Election Commission on Tuesday stated that they were satisfied with the preparedness for Telangana assembly polls which is to be held on December 7. The district collectors and Superintendents of Police from 31 districts gave a detailed presentation on electoral rolls, testing of electronic voting machines and law and order and monitoring of Mode Code of Conduct. The commission considered even minute details like the requirement of poll personnel, complaints about electoral rolls and any mishappening during the last election and the counter plans for them.

While team was quite satisfied with the work done it advised the district collectors and police officers to work extremely hard to ensure that the this election in Telangana sets an example for conduct of free and fair elections.

In an official release, it said “the team needs to emphasize on the entire management of election machinery to adhere strictly to the election guidelines and maintain complete impartiality in all election related matters”.  The commission has also asked the district officials to step up voter awareness while emphasising on conducting the inclusive election.

The Election Commission team also held meeting with nine recognised political parties on Monday.

The Commission will also meet the senior officials in Income tax, excise, transport departments, bankers’ coordinators and senior state government officials today before leaving for Delhi.
