In the wake of P Chidambaram‘s arrest in the alleged INX media case, Chennai Congress party workers took to the streets to stage a protest today. The workers have gathered around the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee Headquarters.
The workers are said to be raising slogans against the arrest of former Union Finance minister. CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) arrested P Chidambaram from his Jor Bagh residence on Wednesday evening. Now he is slated to be presented before the CBI court at Rouse avenue.
In a day-long drama, the minister went from being missing to be arrested in the evening. CBI had earlier gone to his house but the leader was not found. But as soon as it was reported that the leader is back in his residence, CBI officials jumped the walls to catch the minister.
The investigative agency arrested him around 9.45 pm on Wednesday. All over the country, Congress party is expressing that the agency has committed a deep violation of constitutionality.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee condemned the way in which the Congress leader was arrested. She called the incident sad and bad.

Karti Chidambaram, son of P Chidambaram have also alleged the role of foul-play in the incident. He slammed the Modi government for restoring to political vendetta. Karti has also called the CBI’s move as a staged diversion to hide Article 370 issue.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, while speaking to the media has expressed his disappointment over the arrest and targeted BJP government for using CBI and ED as its ‘personal revenge-seeking departments’.
