The top leadership Brass of the ruling Janta Dal (United) in Bihar will hold discussions on the coming Lok Sabha polls and the party’s prospects beyond the state’s frontiers at its national executive meeting that is slated for March 4, a party functionary familiar with the Development said on Tuesday.

Discussions would be held “on important issues and preparations for the upcoming general elections”, JD(U) national general secretary and chief spokesman KC Tyagi said in a statement informing about the national executive meeting scheduled for next month.

Stressing on Party’s plans, KC Tyagi added, “The party is serious to expand itself in other states too, so a decision to contest elections outside Bihar can also be taken during the meeting.”

The national executive meet which was earlier slated for March 3 has been rescheduled a day after leaders of the NDA in Bihar planned to put up a united show of strength in a rally at the Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar comprises the Nitish Kumar led Janta Dal (United), Bhartiya Janta Party and Ramvilas Paswan’s Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP).

An invitation for the Mega rally has also been extended to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A seat-sharing formula has already been finalized among the three NDA allies, with both the BJP and the JD(U) agreeing to contest 17 Lok Sabha constituencies each, leaving the remaining six in the state which has a total number of 40 parliamentary segments for Ram Vilas Paswan’s LJP.

LJP leader Ram Vilas Paswan will not contest the General Elections scheduled in April-May. He might, in turn, get a nomination in Rajya Sabha.

Bihar sends 40 members to the Lok Sabha. BJP contested on 30 seats in 2014 and bagged 22 out of the total 30. Paswan-led LJP won 6 out of the 7 seats it contested. Also, RSLP, which was then a part of NDA, grabbed all the 3 seats it fought.
