Former Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah‘s follower and Yeshwanthpur MLA ST Somashekar has written a letter to Congress MLAs in Karnataka regarding conducting a meeting about the worsening state of affairs in Karnataka.

ST Somashekhar, Congress MLA from Yeshwanthpur constituency and the chairman of Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has written a letter to the Congress MLAs in the state. The letter suggests the conducting of a meeting on Tuesday regarding the worsening state of affairs in Karnataka at the moment.

“The present political scenario in Karnataka is going in worst condition day by day so we like-minded MLAs have decided to get together and discuss the present ongoing scenario and to find the solution to this issue on 30.04.2019 Tuesday,”

Though the letter creates suspicion of erupting differences within the party, the officials put an end to questions on the matter. On being asked about the letter and the difference within the party and its allies, ST Somashekhar says, ““Ever since we took charge, we have not had a meeting. I intend to discuss the welfare of the boards and corporations. Since there were elections, we could not discuss anything, but now we can…I am a Congress leader and our government is in power. Why would I want to trouble our own government?”

“Ours is not a party of dictatorship. Leaders are free to hold meetings. He may have called the meeting to discuss something good probably,”  says Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Dinesh Gundu Rao while another Congress MLA Byrathi Suresh said, “We meet once in 2-3 months to discuss the city’s problems. It has nothing to do with politics.”

But ST Somashekhar’s letter advanced a tone of protest from G. Raghu Achar, party MLC.

“I’m shocked at the BDA Chairman’s decision to call for a meeting when the State is facing severe drought. I will attend the meeting of Mr. Siddaramaiah if he convenes it,” he said to a private news channel.
