86 years old, KK Venugopal will soon be notified as the Attorney General of India by the government. His name was cleared by the office of President and he has been announced as Attorney General of India, by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he returned from his three nation tour. He has already succeeded Mukul Rohatgi as the country’s top law officer. He started in Supreme Court in 1960s and was designated as a senior advocate in 1972.

He has been a part of BJP in many of their legal affairs which includes LK Advani’s case of demolition of Babri Masjid and many more. He was associated with BJP during the Ayodhaya Movement when he appeared for Kalyan Singh’s Government in UP and the protection of the disputed structure was assured by him to Supreme Court. He had represented MP Government also by supporting the validity of central law by doing away with the collegium system of appointment of the judges at higher judiciary. He has also received awards like Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan. He has also appeared for CBI and Enforcement Directorate before Supreme Court in 2G Spectrum allocation scam. He believes in hard work and has spent more than six years for this scam. He has been associated with many affairs of government and represent them as a senior advocate.

Though he has achieved this post through his years of experience and expertise in legal matters, still he is victimized by the people for being an aged man who is not appropriate for the post. But people should know that his experience in Supreme Court and his stature in legal circle is what that makes him rise above all others. His unmatched experience of 50 years’ is what he will use once he’ll be selected for the post.

His name was already discussed with the Prime Minister before his three nation tour, but the final confirmation was given by Narendra Modi on 1st July 2017.
