Chief Minister Kamal Nath led Madhya Pradesh Cabinet on Monday passed a resolution to increase OBCs quota in the state from existing 14 percent to 27 percent. The Decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Kamal Nath.

The passed resolution now be taken up in the monsoon session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Session.

Apart from this, Madhya Pradesh Cabinet also increased a dearness allowance for employees and pensioners by three percent. The move will benefit around seven lakh employees and will cost 1,647 crores to the state.

The move came days after the Kamal Nath claimed that at least 10 of his MLAs have been poached with money and power.

‘Bharatiya Janata Party have been trying this since day 1. I have proved a majority at least 4 times in the last 5 months since we formed our government in December. They want to do it again, we have no problem. said Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath as quoted ANI.

Kamal Nath’s reaction came hours after the saffron party in Madhya Pradesh claimed the state ruling Congress is in minority.

In a letter to the state governor Aanandiben Patel, Bharatiya Janata Party claimed that Kamal Nath-led Government in the state is in minority and requested to call a special session of the state assembly.

Kamal Nath government in the state is power banking on the support of 2 MLAs of BSP, 1 of Samajwadi Party and 4 Independents. In state polls that held in December last year, Congress ended up with 114 seats in 230 assembly seat state and fell short of a majority by 2 seats.

Bhartiya Janta Party has 109 Lawmakers in the state.
