Earlier in the week, Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya had issued a notice to Shürhozelie Liezietsu to prove his majority on the floor of the Assembly by July 15, but with Presidential polls scheduled for 17 July, the floor test was postponed.

According to the latest update, the date for the floor test is scheduled back for 15 July. In a letter to Chief Minister Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu, the governor has asked Liezietsu to prove his majority. The need for the floor test arose after former Chief Minister TR Zeliang wrote a letter to the governor pleading to form a government with the support of 41 out of 59 MLAs.

Acharya is also of the opinion that the CM should call for an emergency session of the Assembly to prove the majority on the House floor as early as possible, as he thinks that Liezietsu has lost the support of the majority of the people.

Responding to this Shurhozelie Liezietsu has said that he is ready for the floor test.
