Ravindra Gaikwad

A day after ministry of civil aviation announced guidelines for India’s first no-fly list, Ravindra Gaikwad, who could be termed as the first Indian to be barred from boarding an airline due to his bad behaviour, asked for strict guidelines for the airline crew members too. The no-fly list proposes a ban of a duration between three months to lifetime for unruly behaviour of passengers.

The release of no-fly list guidelines was expedited after the incident involving Ravindra Gaikwad when he was banned from airlines after hitting an Air India official. On March 23, the Shiv Sena MP allegedly burst out on a senior Air India official when he wasn’t allowed to board an economy aircraft, though he had a business class ticket.

While talking to PTI, Gaikwad said that the rules related to security and flyer’s behaviour keep on updating every now and then. It is just that this time it is being highly talked about to bring that incident in public again.

Talking further on this, he said that there need to be equally strict rules for airline crew members as well. Air India has a number of complaints for their rude behaviour with passengers and no one notices them. If there is a need for rules, they should be equal for everyone.

The rules under no-fly list have been put for public comments and any possible amendments for 30 days. Once the period is over, the government will announce final set of rules on June 30th.
