The Apex court of India, Supreme Court today ordered the Fadnavis-Pawar Government to go for floor test on Wednesday before 5 pm. The floor test will prove whether the Fadnavis- Pawar government has the majority or not, if not, then the opposition will be given the chance to form an alliance government.
The Supreme court also ordered the floor test to be conducted within 24 hours with open ballets and the proceedings to be telecasted online, which will be conducted by the protem speaker in the presence of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari.
This order comes when Shiv Sena- Congress- NCP on Monday night claimed with 162 MLAs they have the numbers. The political parties pledged to uproot the Fadnavis-Pawar government in Maharashtra.
The Supreme Court order was welcomed by the Political parties. Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi expressed confidence that Maha Vikas Aghadi would emerge victorious with the support of their MLAs. NCP Maharashtra President Nawab Malik said, “The order is a Milestone in Indian democracy”. “Shiv Sena, Congress, and NCP confident to prove majority in Maharashtra Assembly”: said Former CM Of Maharashtra and Congress MLA Prithviraj Chavan.
Some opposition parties led by the Congress are likely to boycott the joint sitting of Parliament on Tuesday called to commemorate the Constitution Day and will hold a protest against the political developments in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena today said: “It plans to move the Supreme Court against the closure of irrigation scam cases, saying the Devendra Fadnavis government could not take major policy decisions till the floor test was conducted.”
