Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Union Minister Smriti Irani on Monday alleged booth capturing in Amethi Lok Sabha Seat by the Congress workers. She further alleged that they are forcing people to cast their vote for the Congress.

Irani who is taking on Congress President Rahul Gandhi from Amethi, tweeted a video of a woman who claimed that she was forced to vote for the Congress. As claimed, the incident is from Gauriganj’s Guzartola Polling Booth No. 316.

“Alert @ECISVEEP Congress President @RahulGandhi ensuring booth capturing,” tweeted Smriti Irani while quoting a tweet.

‘I tweeted an alert to administration and EC(alleging booth capturing in Amethi), hope they take action. People of the country have to decide whether this kind of politics of Rahul Gandhi should be punished or not’, said Union Minister while talking to media persons in Amethi.

Further training guns towards Rahul Gandhi, Irani said, They have a slogan ‘Chowkidaar Chor Hai’ but it is only they who are stealing votes, Congress President has to explain for such acts’.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi is seeking a fourth term from the parliamentary seat of Amethi. He had entered the Lok Sabha for the First time in 2004 contesting from Amethi Lok Sabha Seat. Amethi in the past has been represented by Sonia Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi. Accept the year 1977, and 1998, Amethi has always elected a Congress Nominee.

In a run-up to the mega elections, Rahul Gandhi is taking on Smriti Irani. In 2014 General Elections, Bharatiya Janata Party fielded Smriti Irani against Rahul Gandhi who gave a tough fight to Congress President. The Margin of winning that used to be over 2-3 lakhs in past was reduced to just 1 Lakh in previous polls.

General Elections 2019 is being held across seven phases starting April 11 to May 19. Amethi to elect a new Member of Parliament is polling today under Phase-V.
