Director General of Police Ashutosh Mishra on Thursday said that all facilities have been ensured for the conduction of a fair bypoll in Sulur constituency.

As Sulur constituency goes to by-polls on May 19, DGP Ashutosh Mishra who is in charge of elections said that all facilities will be ensure for conducting a fair, free by-poll in the constituency.

“Already we have identified check posts at 35 places where forces have been deployed to check vehicles entering Sulur constituency, which has parts of Tiruppur and Coimbatore districts. Any complaints regarding distribution of money and MCC violations can be reported to the control room at 1950,” said Mishra.

Static Surveillance Teams and Mobile Flying Squad Teams have been assigned with keeping a watch on the election proceedings in the constituency which has 324 polling booths and 121 locations.

Almost 4123 personnels from local police, Tamil Nadu special police, armed reserves and central armed reserves would be assigned the duty of maintaining law and order.

Almost 22 nominations have been filed for the Sulur by-polls till now. The nominees include AIADMK‘s V.P. Kandasamy, DMK‘s N. Palanisamy, Makkal Needhi Maiam nominee G. Mayilswamy, Naam Tamilar Katchi’s M.V. Vijayaraghavan, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam nominee P. Sugumar, contesting as an independent, Tamil Nadu Ilangyar Katchi nominee K. Palanisamy, Uzhaipali Makkal Katchi’s  Sanmugam and 15 independents.
