The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister on Saturday hinted at all not going well within the TDP-BJP alliance. CM N Chandrababu Naidu vocalized his displeasure over BJP functionaries publicly criticizing their tie-up.

At a press meet called by Naidu to speak about his Davos visit he told the media men,

“I am following the coalition dharma. I have strictly instructed my party leaders not to openly criticize BJP despite the state facing problems on many fronts. Unfortunately, some BJP leaders have crossed the limits by openly criticizing the TDP and thus the alliance in the state.” In addition, he said that it was on the other partner to decide the future of the alliance.

TDP’s side of the story

Sources from the TDP commented on Naidu’s discontentment with his sister-in-law and BJP member Purandeswari. Naidu and Purandeswari have a bitter political stand since the days of Manmohan Singh government. She has criticized government schemes like the Polavaram project. BJP leader Daggubati Purandeswari has angered the CM by her statements. sources say.

BJP’s side of the story

When asked for a comment at an event in Vijayawada, Purandeswari said,

“BJP leaders are not criticizing the alliance but are only finding fault with the state government for changing the names of the Central government’s welfare initiatives or diverting central funds. Whether to continue with the alliance or not will be decided by the top leadership of the two parties.”

Purandeswari joined the BJP before 2014 polls and lost from Rajampet in Kadapa. She has since then been critical of schemes of the TDP-BJP government.
