yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and one of the biggest Hindutva face of the country Yogi Adityanath is again in the news. Credit to his affinity to change the name of Cities in the country. CM Yogi Adityanath on Sunday while addressing a rally in Goshamahal Constituency said if BJP would be voted to power it would rename to a city of Hyderabad to Bhagyanagar. Uttar Pradesh on the occasion was accompanied along with incumbent party MLA Raja Singh.

Uttar Pradesh leader said “If you want to see Hyderabad transform itself into Bhagyanagar, then you should give BJP a chance this time. While other parties are just playing vote bank politics, the BJP is the only party that can fearlessly focus on good governance and development. Raja Singh has represented your issues forcefully in the past four years. Now, it is time to elect him back as an MLA.

Raja Singh, the incumbent MLA  who is famous for making controversial statements, has repeatedly been booked for hate speech and inciting communal violence by the police.

Raja Singh on Nov 10 has triggered a new controversy after he said that he would work towards renaming the city of Hyderabad as ‘Bhagyanagar’ if the BJP was voted to power in the state in the upcoming Telangana elections.

Raja Singh said, He further added that both Secunderabad and Karimnagar would also be rechristened. Singh said that Hyderabad was earlier known as Bhagyanagar but Quli Qutub Shah in 1590 changed its name to Hyderabad. Singh also said that the areas named after Mughals and Nizams would be renamed after the people who fought for Telangana and the country.

The Raja Singh’s statement had come less than a week after Faizabad district in Uttar Pradesh was renamed to Ayodhya by Yogi Adityanath, who said that the identity of the district of Faizabad is Lord Ram.

It is being claimed that Hyderabad was named as ‘Bhagyanagar’, said to be a women dancer ‘Bhagmati’ who fell in love with a ruler of Hyderabad Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah and converted to Islam. She took the name of Hyder Mahal, and from there the city ‘Hyderabad’ got its name.

However, historians argue strongly that this was not the case, as there is no evidence to suggest that such a queen existed in the city historically.

Telangana State Elections are slated for December 7 and counting of votes will take place on December 11 with other state elections.
