Anurag Thakur

Last week, Anurag Thakur was asked by the Apex Court to be present at the next hearing and apologise in front of the court. Along with this, the court had ordered him to file a  “one-page short affidavit” asking for an apology while making it clear that it was not going to consider his earlier affidavit of apology.

Following the court orders, former BCCI president on Thursday presented an unconditional apology in front of Supreme Court. In the apology was written that it was never his intention to undermine the majesty of the apex court. The apology letter said, “I humbly submit that it was never the intention of the deponent to undermine the majesty of this court and since unintentionally some kind of misinformation and miscommunication has occurred, I unhesitatingly tender my unconditional and unequivocal apology to this court.”

Senior advocate P S Patwalia, who is appearing on the side of Anurag Thakur has assured that he had a strong hold on the case through which it can be proved that he did nothing wrong. The case was filed on Thakur on January 2 after he was found filing a false affidavit regarding writing to the International Cricket Council (ICC) on the issue of BCCI’s autonomy.

Anurag Thakur had filed an “unconditional and unqualified apology” on 6th March before the apex court. In the apology letter, he said that he had never intended to file any false information before the apex court.
