Australia becomes the second team to reach the finals of the ICC World Cup in 2023.

The Almighty Australia yet again kept their outstanding performance going as they beat South Africa.

They qualified for the finals for the eighth time and have won the cup five times.

Reaching the finals of the World Cup yet again remains far away for South Africa.

Till now, South Africa has reached the semi-finals several times but failed to reach the finals.

In 1992, they reached the semi-finals for the first time, where they faced England.

England made their way to the finals by winning the match by 19 runs.

In 1999, they again reached the semis, where Australia beat them by five wickets.

In 2007, they beat them again by seven wickets, and in 2015, New Zealand made their way into the finals.

Match Details

The second semi-final was played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first.

South Africa Innings

Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma opened the innings for them.

Temba yet again wasn’t able to play an effective innings as he lost his wicket in the first over itself.

Hazlewood and Starc weren’t letting anyone settle down, as they were taking wickets.

Rain interrupted the game for a short time as Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller handled the situation.

They both formed an effective partnership, as Heinrich lost his wicket but David completed his half-century.

With the knock of 101 runs by David, South Africa reached a score of 212 runs.

Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins took three wickets each, while Josh Hazelwood and Travis Head took two wickets each.

Australia Innings

Travis Head and David Warner opened the innings for Australia.

They both gave a good start to their teams, as they were going well.

Aiden Markram bowled David and brought South Africa back into the game.

After that, they kept taking quick wickets and put immense pressure on the Aussies.

Mitchell and Pat, in the end, kept the strike on the pitch as they made their way into the finals.

Australia reached the finals for the eighth time, as they will face the unbeatable India in the finals.
