The former Indian cricket team captain and BCCI president Saurav Ganguly expects that this season of IPL will shatter all the previous viewership records.

The grand event of T20 cricket is set to begin on September 19 and will run on for a period of 53 days till November 10. The matches would be played across three venues from Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The season had to be conducted outside India due to the spike in covid cases.

The beginning has been against the fortunes as the IPL was hit with the news of Covid-19 entering the CSK camp when 13 of their members were tested positive.

Ganguly opened up on the situation of higher viewership while delivering a speech which was a part of Symbiosis Golden Jaubilee. He explained that crowd won’t be part of IPL on the ground so they will obviously follow it on television or smartphones. This is why he is expecting highest rating in this year’s IPL season. He further added that there is positive in everything.

The BCCI president also spoke on the importance of this year’s IPL. The tournament had to be played to ensure the normalcy around the World amid the Corona Virus. Ganguly was also questioned on behalf of the players who will be playing in front of empty stands. Ganguly believes that soon there will 30% of audience in the stadium by following strict social distancing protocols.

These kind of permissions will take some period of time as people will be properly tested before they enter the ground. This was added by the BCCI president when he spoke about the possibility of matches being played in front of the fans.

The BCCI officials along with Ganguly believe that this is their effort to bring life back to normal until the vaccine makes it’s way into the world. They are trying to do their part until everything gets normal.

The BCCI officials believe that they could easily have canceled this year’s IPL but they wanted to overcome all the difficulties and make this a memeorable event. They look forward on getting past this virus by conducting a safe and sound IPL season.

The President of BCCI concluded by appreciating the mindset of the team members and officials. He said that they are looking forward to find and make ways and get the normalcy back into the lives. He believes that people have the ability to come out of the difficult situations if they don’t give up. This is what they exactly did in this year’s Dream11 IPL 2020.
