The Mumbai Indians (MI) finally broke their losing streak after winning against the Delhi Capitals (DC).

The 16th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was to be played between the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals in Delhi.

Both teams still had to win their first match in the IPL 2023. The five cup holders MI were searching for their first win.

Whereas, DC was also looking for their first win in IPL 2023.

Match Details

The 16th match was set to be played in Delhi. MI won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Delhi Capitals (DC) Innings

David Warner and Prithvi Shaw opened the inning for DC.

They both started to get along and form a partnership.

They were making full use of the power play by hitting boundaries in every over.

David Warner was looking strong from one end when Hrithik Sharma took the wicket of Shaw.

Manish Pandey came into bat as the streak of four runs in every over kept on going.

Runs were coming from one end and wickets from the other end as well.

Axar Patel, one of the best players for DC, came in to bat, and his power-hitting added runs to their total.

He soon completed his half-century, and the 54 runs he scored and the 51 runs by David Warner took DC to a total of 172.

Prithvi Shaw was replaced by Mukesh Kumar to strengthen the bowling attack.

Mumbai Indians’ (MI) innings

Mumbai called in Tim David as a replacement for Riley Meredith to strengthen their batting line-up.

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan opened the innings for MI.

They both started to attack from the start itself, as they were mostly dealing with boundaries.

They both were playing well when Ishan got run out by Mukesh Kumar.

Tilak Varma came into the game and he also started to play big shorts.

Rohit soon completed his half-century as the duration of low scores was finally over.

They both soon lost their wickets as the match got tense.

MI needed 20 runs in the last two overs when Tim David and
Cameron Green both hit sixes in the 19th over to get close to the total.

As in the last over, the neck-to-neck game ended with MI winning the match by six wickets.
