Rohit Sharma breaks multiple records as India wins against Afghanistan.

India started their World Cup journey with an outstanding win against Australia.

Match Details

The second match for India was on October 11 in Delhi.

Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first.

Afghanistan Innings

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran opened the innings for Afghanistan.

They both were giving a good start to their team when the star bowler of India broke their partnership.

Jasprit Bumrah didn’t let them settle down, as he took the wicket of Ibrahim.

Rahmanullah and Rahmat handled the situation, but they weren’t able to stay for long.

Hardik Pandya took the wicket of Rahmanullah, and in the next over, Shardul took the wicket of Rahmat.

Hashmatullah Shahidi and Azmatullah Omarzai handled the situation from there.

As the match went on, they also completed their half-centuries.

Hardik broke their partnership as he bowled Azmatullah.

The knock of 80 runs by Hashmatullah took Afghanistan to a total of 272/8.

Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets and by these four wickets, he bowled his best bowling figures in an ICC tournament which is 4/39.

Hardik took two wickets, and Shardul and Kuldeep took one wicket each.

India Innings

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan opened the innings for India.

Rohit was seen in great form from the start, as he was hitting great shots across the ground.

By hitting great sixes around the ground, he broke the record of Universe Boss Chris Gayle for the maximum sixes.

He is now leading the board for most sixes in international cricket.

As the match went on, he also completed his half-century and kept the momentum on India’s side.

Going on, he also completed his century in just 63 balls.

By this century, he also holds the record for the fastest century by an Indian player in a Cricket World Cup.

He broke the 40-year-old record of Kapil Dev by his century.

He also surpasses the god of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, as he now has the most number of centuries in the ICC Cricket World Cup.

The knock of 131 runs by him brought India closer to victory.

He and Ishan lost their wicket but made India reach the edge of victory.

Shreyas and the 55-run knock of Virat took India to victory from there.

Rohit Sharma was chosen as the Player of the Match as he also broke several records.
