From the past years its been observed that the viewership of sports is slightly higher as compare to other channels. Youth love to see their favourite sport everyday. Most of the people has atleast one favorite sport which they see. We witnessed many professional leagues of kabaddi, Football, wrestling badminton etc. which is considered as one the major reason for increase in viewership.

According to a report from BARC (Broadcasting Audience Research Council) the amount of people who watched FIFA in 2018 were recorded around 111 million and 231 million impressions. From the states like  Kerala, Assam, North-east, Sikkim and West Bengal together contributed to 81% of the total viewership of FIFA WORLD CUP 2018. 

Not only this but one of the most viewed cricket league IPL was also considered as one of the reason of increasing viewership. The official channel partner of IPL STAR SPORTS NETWORK recorded 448 million unique viewers during the IPL 2018 with an unprecedented 1.4 billion impressions. The IPL is performing even better for the ongoing 2019 edition with the opening weekend capturing 219 million viewers at a 31% growth rate.

It’s been also observed that the Hindi and regional sports channel of India have able to captured the attention of the audience as compared to English sports channel. Channels like STAR SPORTS 1 MARATHI STAR SPORTS 1 KANNADA etc has many viewers under their belt.
