Sri Lanka made it to their second consecutive final of the Asia Cup after beating Pakistan.

The Asia Cup started on August 30 as Pakistan and Nepal played the opening match.

After the group’s stages and the Super Four stage, the Asia Cup finally got its two finalists.

India and Sri Lanka will be facing each other tomorrow in the final of the Asia Cup.

India has till now won the Asia Cup the most, seven times.

Whereas Sri Lanka has won the Asia Cup the second-highest number of times, that is six times.

Match Details

The match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was played on September 14.

This was the deciding match to secure the position in the final.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first.

Pakistan Innings

Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar Zaman opened the innings for Pakistan.

They both gave a stable start to their team as Pramod Madushan bowled Fakhar.

Pakistan got their first breakthrough as Babar came in to bat.

They both handled the situation, as Babar lost his wicket to Wellalage.

The rain interrupted the game as the overs were reduced to 45 overs.

Abdullah soon completed his half-century, as Mohammad Rizwan was playing outstandingly from one side.

The outstanding knock by him of 86 runs took Pakistan to a total of 252/7.

In between, the rain came again as the overs were reduced to 42 overs.

Sri Lanka Innings

Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera opened the innings for Sri Lanka.

They both were looking good and even hitting boundaries when Kusal got run out.

Kusal Mendis came in to bat as he was playing marvelous shots and even completed his half-century.

He was standing strong from one end, as Sadeera Samarawickrama also helped him from the other end.

Going further, Sadeera lost his wicket as Charith came in to bat.

Kusal’s knock of 91 runs brought Sri Lanka closer to victory.

They were losing wickets in the end as the match got serious.

The outstanding four by Charith in the second last ball saved Sri Lanka, as on the last ball they won the match.

With this win, Sri Lanka made it to the finals of the Asia Cup.
