Google Maps

Google, like any other tech giants, keeps testing new features for its services and applications. At Google I/O 2018, Google introduced users to a lot of new updates for various of its services. But now a new feature has been spotted in one of Google’s mostly used app Google Maps. This new feature will not bring a new functionality but it is expected that it will change the look of that app. The new feature aims to make it easier for the users to access certain features.

Google always seems to try something new with the Maps app’s interface. This mainly includes implementing different designs for the bottom bar in various regions, moving items from the side menu to the floating layers button and many more.

Whats new features will be added to Google Maps:

One of the most prominent features that are likely to get included is the addition of a new floating scrollbar. The new scrolling bar is placed just under the search bar that is available at the top of the app’s interface. The floating bar will show various categories such as petrol pumps, pharmacies, hospitals, restaurants and many more. After tapping on any of these users will see all the nearby stores, cafes or any other category which was tapped.

This new floating bar is currently visible in the latest Google Maps beta version. However, the feature seems to be region locked. Apart from the new scrolling floating bar users will also see the layers button on the top left corner. This new design falls in line with the Google’s revamped material design theme.

At the I/O 2018 developers conference Google has already revealed several new features for Google Maps. The app will get several new features that include For You Tab, Group Planning, sharing ETA with friends. The app will also be integrated with the Google Lens service. Among all these new features the most talked about feature is the integration of Google Lens.
