If you are into premium flagship Android smartphones with rugged build quality, you might be not happy with this year’s flagship smartphones, as major smartphone OME’s like Apple, Samsung, and LG have launched their best offerings with glass design, to incorporate features like wireless charging and to make them look aesthetically pleasing. However, just like every year, Samsung launches a rugged version of their premium flagship smartphone Aka the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active.

However, there is a twist in the tale. Every year, the rugged portfolio from Samsung was managed by AT&T, and this year for the first time the company has chosen to go with T-Mobile and we are yet to know the reason. So, Here is the complete set of specifications of the upcoming premium rugged smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active goes with the internal model number SM-G892T. The device is equipped with the same 5.8-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, which is found on the regular Samsung Galaxy S8 with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The device will be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-core SoC, paired with 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB onboard flash storage with a dedicated micro SD card slot (up to 256 GB).

Coming to the camera capability, the device will offer the same 12 MP shooter from the original model with features like F/1.7 aperture, 4k video recording, 1080p slow motion recording capability and optical image stabilisation. For the selfie enthusiasts, the device is likely to offer an 8 MP front-facing camera with 1080p video recording capability.

In terms of operating system, the device will offer Android Nougat with custom Samsung UI on the top and will receive Android Oreo in the near future. The device might not offer features like wireless charging, however, it will include NFC for Samsung Pay. The best part about the Active version over the standard version is the battery, The Galaxy S8 Active is likely to feature a massive 4000 mAh battery with fast charging capability via USB type C port. The battery should last for days on a single charge.

Finally, coming to the pricing according to the sources the device will retail for $849.99 which roughly translates to INR 55,000 for the unlocked model.
