WhatsApp has begun releasing a brand new update for the Facebook-owned chat app. WhatsApp users over the past few days have reported about audio and video calls in the app. With more than 1.5 million users the world over, the instant messaging app has been rolling out new features to enhance user experience.

How to use this new WhatsApp feature:

The long-awaited group call feature is quite easy to use. During an ongoing WhatsApp video or audio call, a user only need to tap on the “Add Contact” icon which appears on the top right of the screen and here you can easily choose the person you want to invite in your ongoing call. Similarly, you can also switch between audio and video calls as in a single contact call. The new feature also allows the person who is invited to a group call to see who else has already joined in. According to some reports, the group call feature would allow maximum of four people in a single call. However, the news is not yet confirmed.

The WhatsApp group audio and video call feature was revealed by the chat app’s director Mubarik Imam.

WhatsApp has rolled out this feature in its beta update 2.18.162. However, all the Android users are not getting this update right now. WhatsApp needs to enable this via a server-side update. However, we hope that we will soon see this feature in the latest update for WhatsApp Android.
