From last few weeks we have been covering a lot of stuff about the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, however, we have no information on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. A user on Wechat has shared the official press renders of the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus. We have only one word to say mind=blow away.

The sleek bezels and the heightened display is the main thing that caught our attention. Both devices look stunning and these are the best looking Redmi series smartphones till date. Xiaomi is all set to launch these smartphones in China on 7th December and we can expect the official launch in India in January 2018.

The smartphone maker has chosen some pretty interesting colour combinations. These mobiles phone will come in Gold, Black, Blue, and Rose Gold. Except for the Black variant, all other colour combinations offer a white front panel, which goes well with the colour choices. So, here are the complete tech specifications of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus.

The basic difference between these two models is the display. Though, both models are fitted with a new 18:9 aspect ratio display, the actual screen size varies. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 offers a 5.7-inch screen size and the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus offers a 5.99-inch screen size. With the bigger screen real estate comes the better screen resolution. The Redmi 5 offers a 1440×720 IPS LCD HD+ screen, whereas the Redmi 5 Plus comes with a much premium 2160x1080p IPS LCD FHD+ display. Both models offer a 2.5D curved tempered glass on the top for the protection.

These displays are driven by a underclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa-core Mobile Solution (with up to 1.8 GHz), paired with 2 GB or 3 GB or 4 GB LPDDR3 RAM with 32 GB or 64 GB onboard flash storage. Just like the current trend, the smartphone maker has included a dedicated micro SD card slot (up to 128 GB) with two separate nano-SIM card slots with 4G LTE and VoLte capability. The only remaining change between these twin toys is the battery. The Redmi 5 offers a 3300 mAh battery and the Redmi 5 Plus offers a 4100 mAh Li-ion battery. Batteries on both models are non-user replaceable and come with a micro USB port for charging and data syncing.

The remaining features are shared between these models. Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus offers a 13 MP rear-facing camera and a 5 MP front-facing selfie camera with 1080p video recording capability. The metal unibody design does remain the same and the design is in line with the other smartphones of the similar budget.

These smartphones run on Android Nougat based MiUi 9 and offer plenty of features. The smartphone is expected to receive Oreo update, but, it will take some time. Other standard features like Infrared blaster, 3.5 mm headphone jack, Bluetooth, and WiFi will also be present.

Finally, to conclude, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 is expected to retail in China for CNY 999 (₹9,999) and the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is expected to retail for CNY 1099 (₹10,999) for the 2 GB RAM and 32 GB storage variant.
