Reliance Jio latest plan

Since last few days, there are rumors rolling out in the market regarding the data breach in the Reliance Jio. But after preliminary investigations from the cops have proved that there was no breach of the customer’s data. According to the deputy commissioner of police(crime), Tushar Doshi, “No data has been moved and no sensitive data has been leaked”.

Imran Chhimpa which was found as a suspect in the matter was brought from Rajasthan to Mumbai under a transfer warrant from Jaipur for further inquiry. Chhimpa had partial details of Jio subscribers, including their names, email IDs, alternative mobile numbers and the date of activation of the sim cards. He may have got these details by using a Jio retailer’s username and password. Retailers have access to such subscriber-related data.

According to Doshi, Imran has a master’s degree in computer applications(MCA). He may have wanted this data to make an app similar to the Truecaller that will provide subscribers the name of the caller. The police have still not confirmed that Imran was working as an individual or was a part of the larger group.

On Monday, Jio had filed a case with the cyber-crime cell of Navi Mumbai police, after FoneArena claimed that the data of nearly 120-million Jio users had been leaked on an independent site named magicapk.com.
