Twenty American states have on Friday signed a resolution to block United States President Donald Trump’s attempts of bypassing US Congress and diverting federal funds to get funds for his long-standing demand of a border wall along with Mexico.

According to ANI news reports, New York attorney general Letitia James, in a tweet, said, “This wall is unnecessary, and an abuse of power that will take away resources that could be used to help Americans across our nation.”

The motion which was filed late on Thursday, came while Trump headed to California on Friday in a bid to make his border security issue a central campaign issue for his presidential election scheduled to take place in 2020.

House speaker Nancy Pelosi has said the House of Representatives will sue to bar Trump’s transfer of funds for US-Mexico border wall.

Pelosi was quoted as saying, “The President’s action clearly violates the Appropriations Clause by stealing from appropriate funds, an action that was not authorized by constitutional or statutory authority.”

On Thursday, Trump has also threatened to shut the southern border and impose tariffs on Mexican automobiles, if Mexico fails to stop “massive amounts of drugs” coming into the US within one year
