Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the world to ask Myanmar to create an encouraging environment for the return of the Rohingya migrants. Myanmar has been accused of ethnic violence against the Rohingya population.

According to a report in Anadolu Agency, the Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “Rohingya crisis is a formidable challenge for Bangladesh [..] we want a peaceful and immediate resolution of the crisis. Myanmar has created the crisis and the solution lies in Myanmar.”

The violence in the Rakhine state of Myanmar had led to a mass exodus of the Rohingya population to Bangladesh. The violence against the Rohingya community has been going on since 2012. The Military regime had initiated a campaign against the Rohingya minorities which has resulted in about 24,000 murders.

Bangladesh had opened its borders for the migrants who had managed to run and survive from the violence perpetrated against them. According to the report in Anadolu Agency, around 750,000 Rohingya men, women and children have managed to cross the border since the start in the violence.

The world had been looking at the violence in Myanmar and was concerned yet some countries decided to protect their borders, Bangladesh had allowed the entry of the migrants.

Countries like Turkey had requested the Bangladeshi authorities to provide land to the refugees, according to a report in the Anadolu Agency, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said, “We request Bangladesh to allocate land as we did for Syrian refugees in Turkey, which are the best camps in the world.”

Turkey has been one of the countries to have offered its support to the Bangladeshi government by providing aid and asking Myanmar to ensure a safe environment for the return of the migrants.
