Islamabad, June 3: British Airways has resumed its flight operation to Pakistan on Sunday, ten years after it was suspended in the wake of a terror attack at Islamabad’s Marriott Hotel that claimed the lives of more than 50 people. The airways spokesperson had once made the same announcement in March.

According to ANI news reports, the flights are scheduled to operate three times in a week between Pakistan’s capital Islamabad and the British province of Heathrow.

The very first flight, BA-621, is all set to land at the international airport of Islamabad at about 9:25 am on Monday, as per reports of The Express Tribune.

Thomas Drew, the British high commissioner, stated the resuming operations of the airlines was a testament to enhancing security condition in Pakistan.

Today, Drew posted a video showing flight landing at Islamabad international airport.

Drew, in a video posted on Sunday on his official Twitter handle, said, “A big day for the UK and Pakistan. @British_Airways first flight on its new direct service to Islamabad takes off from London Heathrow this afternoon. It can look forward to a warm welcome when it lands here tomorrow.

Drew added, “I see this new service as a vote of confidence in the future of those links it will give a particular boost to trade and investment.”

United Kingdom’s airways are the first-ever European airline to fly to Pakistan after more than a decade. Moreover, several other airlines have expressed willingness to resume their flight services and operation to Islamabad.
