The United States President Donald Trump has on Sunday said, he has stepped back from declaring a state of national emergency, under a pressure from his own lawyers, congressional Republicans, and advisors, as in order to get his demand of $5.7 billion border wall to be funded.

According to NewYork Times news reports, as the US government shutdown enters into its 23rd day on Sunday, Trump refused to declare an emergency. Congress and lawmakers alleged him for using “emergency” as a way out of the government shutdown.

Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, this week, said, “If today the national emergency is border security, tomorrow the national emergency might be climate change.”

When asked by Fox News why he did not immediately declare a national emergency in order to secure the funds with no approvals from congressional, Trump said he wanted to provide more time to opposition democratic lawmakers in order to strike a deal.

In an interview on late Saturday, Trump told Fox News: “I want to give them the chance to see if they can act responsibly.”

In a series of tweets on Saturday, Trump expressed his efforts to defend his demand and called on Democrats to return back to Washington and end what Trump called it as “the massive humanitarian crisis at our southern border”.

Trump tweeted: “Democrats could solve the Shutdown in 15 minutes! Call your Dem Senator or Congresswoman/man. Tell them to get it done! Humanitarian Crisis.”

Calling Democrats back to Washington, Trump wrote, “We have a massive Humanitarian Crisis at our Southern Border. We will be out for a long time unless the Democrats come back from their “vacations” and get back to work. I am in the White House ready to sign!”

He tweeted: “I do have a plan on the Shutdown. But to understand that plan you would have to understand the fact that I won the election, and I promised safety and security for the American people. Part of that promise was a Wall at the Southern Border. Elections have consequences!”

At the White House meeting on Friday, Trump has said to declare a national emergency – as the “easy way out:”, if Democrats fail to fund for a border wall, and said Congress had to step up to hold responsibilities.

Trump said, “If they can’t do it … I will declare a national emergency. I have the absolute right.”
