Bangkok, August 2: Indian external affairs minister S Jaishankar on August 1 arrived in the Thailand capital, Bangkok, to participate in numbers of key summits, including the 9th East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the 10th Mekong Ganga Cooperation Ministerial Meeting, the 26th ASEAN Regional Forum, and ASEAN-India Ministerial Meeting.
On August 2, Jaishankar met with United States secretary of state Mike Pompeo and held a discussion on regional issues.
The EAM said, “Have conveyed to American counterpart @SecPompeo this morning in clear terms that any discussion on Kashmir, if at all warranted, will only be with Pakistan and only bilaterally.

He also met with PhambinhMinh, the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on the second good day of his tour.

Afterward, the EAM met with Timor foreign minister Dionisio da Costa Babo Soares and said they both “agreed to step up engagement across all sectors”.

Jaishankar also met with Tilak Marapana, the foreign minister of Sri Lanka, during which they reiterated their “strong support in the fight against terrorism”.

Jaishankar met with Mongolia’s foreign minister Tsogtbaatar Damdin on Friday morning, saying “working on advancing our comprehensive engagement with ‘third neighbour’ & Strategic Partner”.
