India and Bolivia have on Friday inked eight MoUs (Memorandum of Understandings) in various sectors including medicine and culture space.

India’s President Ram Nath Kovind, who was on a three-nation official visit, has reached Bolivia on Thursday. Kovind praised Bolivia for being India’s close partner and said, “We are happy to have Bolivia as a partner in the international solar alliance and welcome the signing of the framework agreement establishing the bond,” according to ANI news reports.

Kovind was honoured with Bolivia-Condor de los Andes en el Grado de gran collar from Bolivian President Evo Morales.

Kovind said, “In addition, we have signed eight MoUs in the fields of culture, visa waiver arrangement for diplomats, the exchange between diplomatic academics, mining, space, traditional medicine, the establishment of the centre of excellence in IT and Bi-Oceanic railway projects.”

During a ceremonial welcoming at the airport, the guards of honour were inspected by Kovind and his wife Savita Kovind along with 100 ministerial officials.

Kovind said, “I am very happy to be in the beautiful land of Bolivia. A country rich in traditions and diversity, will people proud of their country.”

India’s external ministry has noted that India has emerged as a major export destination for Bolivia with Bolivia, simultaneously, becoming India’s ninth largest trading partner in Latin America and the Caribbean region.

Following this Bolivian official trip, Kovind is scheduled to visit Chile on March 30 to mark 70 years of India-Chile diplomatic relations.
