Washington DC, August 28: The United Kingdom (UK), France, and Germany – the allies of the United States, have on Tuesday slammed North Korea’s “repeated provocative launches” of its ballistic missiles.

In an official statement, issued by Deputy German UN Ambassador Jürgen Schulz, the trio of the European nations said: “We reiterate our condemnation of such repeated provocative launches, which are violations of UN Security Council Resolutions.”

The development comes after a closed-door meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Tuesday. All three nations requested the conference because of serious concerns regarding Pyongyang’s recent missile launches, calling on the nation “to engage in meaningful negotiations with the US”.

The three nations asserted “international sanctions must remain in place and be fully and strictly enforced until North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs are dismantled”.

“Serious efforts by North Korea to reengage diplomatically and make progress on denuclearization are the only way to guarantee security and stability on the Korean peninsula and in the region,” the statement added.

North Korea have been conducting several short-range missile tests from last couple of weeks reportedly claiming the launches were a retaliatory move against the joint military drills between South Korea and the United States.
