Trailer of American cyberpunk action film ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ has been released. The movie is based on Yukito Kishiro’s comics manga ‘Battle Angel Alita’, which is known as Gunnm in Japan. The film is brought to us by the producer of ‘Avatar’ and ‘Titanic’ James Cameron and co-producer Jon Landau, and director of ‘Sin City’ Robert Rodriguez.

As the synopsis reads, “‘Alita: Battle Angel’ is an epic adventure of hope and empowerment. When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history while her street-smart new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) offers instead to help trigger her memories. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past – she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she’s grown to love.”

The action-packed trailer gives a lot about the film. The film is set several centuries in the future. James only intended to adopt the “spine story” of the original comic book, where a fictional sport “motorball” had to be included as it played an important part in the development of the character of Alita.

The film’s official announcement was done in 2003 but due to James’ engagements in ‘Avatar’ and its sequel, it delayed several years. And now that it is out, the audience can’t wait to witness the journey of the fallen angel Alita, to discover her extraordinary past and empowered skills. The role of Alita has been played by Rosa Salazar, she portrays the role by way of Motion capture.

The film will hit theatres on February 14.
