Former Delhi Chief Minister and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) Chief Sheila Dikshit on Friday appointed 14 District Congress Committee Observers and 280 Block Congress Committee Observers. The move comes months ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls which are slated for next year January-February.

Earlier on June 28, DPCC Chief Sheila Dikshit, in a move to revamp party organization, dissolved all 280 block Congress committees with immediate effect.

The decision to dissolved the block committee had come after DPCC Chief Sheila Dikshit met Rahul Gandhi along with the six other defeated Congress candidates Ajay Maken, Mahabal Mishra, J.P. Agarwal, Rajesh Lilothia and Arvinder Singh Lovely as well as P.C. Chacko, the Congress in-charge of Delhi.

Congress, after facing a crushing defeat, has already started gearing up for the Delhi State Polls. The party had in June held its strategy meeting and directed its Block and District President in Delhi to form a panel of 3 probable candidates from each assembly of which one should be a woman.

The Decision is seen as an attempt to reach out to women voters in the national capital for State Polls. The move comes days after AAP Chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced his plans to provide free rides to women in Delhi Metro and DTC Buses in Delhi.

In the recently held national polls, Congress faced a humiliating defeat in Delhi too and lost all 7 Lok Sabha Seats.
