Honda has announced that it will still continue to sell its 4th generation Honda City in India. The fourth-generation Honda City will come with SV and V petrol variants combined with the manual gearbox. Meanwhile, both the SV and V trim of the fourth generation Honda City is now priced below ₹10 lakh. The SV trim now costs ₹9.29 lakhs while the V trim costs ₹9.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). The SV and V trim of Honda City fourth generation now gets a price cut by ₹61,000 and ₹66,000 respectively.
Meanwhile, the fifth-generation Honda City comes with three trims and is now combined with the fourth generation trim. The V, VX and ZX variant comes with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC DOHC petrol engine. This particular engine comes with both 7-speed CVT and 6-speed manual gearbox. However, the 1.5-litre i-DTEC DOHC diesel engine comes with a 6-speed manual transmission only.
Honda has priced the fifth-generation Honda City from ₹10.89 lakh to ₹14.64 lakh. However, Honda will now offer only the petrol manual variant of the fourth generation Honda City in India. According to the data, Honda has sold over 3.5 lakh units of Honda City since January 2014. The fourth-generation Honda City will play the role of an entry-level variant for the Honda City trim.
Honda City with its fourth generation still on board will rival the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento in India.
