The Unlock 5.0 Guidelines, have been released by the Ministry of Home Affairs, MHA. Under the revised guidelines, in India from October 15 reopening of schools and colleges in a graded manner is allowed.  After assessing the situation, in consultation with the school’s/ institution’s management the decision to reopen schools and colleges has to be taken. In schools, attendance is not mandatory.

Talking about the colleges, the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education has been made responsible in order to take permission to take the decision on the reopening of colleges/ Higher Educational Institutions or HEIs. After assessing the ground situation, the decision for colleges has to be taken . For schools as well as colleges, online learning would continue be the preferred mode of teaching. Mentioned below is complete guidelines for reopening of school and colleges.

Unlock 5.0 Guidelines for Reopening Schools in India

  •  From October 15, 2020 to reopen in a graded manner schools and coaching institutions have been given permission. After assessing the situation, this would have to be done.
  • Online learning is to be promoted and preferred mode of teaching
  • Attendance is not to be made mandatory or enforced.
  • To attend the school (voluntary), students would still require parental consent
  • In case online classes are being held and some students prefer online and not physical classes, then school must permit them to do so
  • In the country, in accordance with the details SOPs released by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare about reopening schools  would be released by the States and UTs. Also, the SOPs must be followed strictly.
  • In the containment zones schools would continue to remain closed.

School administration is held responsible to  decide whether or not to reopen school.
