The season of autumn is going on and OnePlus took it as an opportunity to announce a new smartphone. It is the season for OnePlus to release their latest T-series phone in the form of OnePlus 8T. The phone has been a rumour in the last few weeks and the final device doesn’t have some major surprises for users. The early response to OnePlus 8T has been a bit tepid in comparison to previous releases. It is not a bad smartphone but a few important features are definitely missing.

OnePlus 8T has a large 6.55-inch 1080p OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate like the latest phones of Samsung. DisplayMate says that it is a wonderful panel from a technical standpoint. OnePlus has managed to slim down the bezels a lot more to make them symmetrical all the way around. Smartphones at this particular price range normally have larger “chins” to house the display drivers.

There is a four cameras setup in OnePlus 8T and two of them are mostly useful. The first one is a 48MP primary camera and a 16MP ultrawide camera. Additionally, there is a 5MP macro camera which is not so good like other dedicated macro cameras and a 2MP depth sensor that helps with focus and portrait mode effects but most probably, it has been added to boost the count of sensors.

The phone is powered by Snapdragon 865 along with 5G and packs a massive 4500mAh battery that supports super-fast 65W charging. In US, OnePlus 8T has 12GB RAM and 265GB storage capacity priced at $750. In the international segment, there is an affordable version of 8GB RAM and 128GB storage capacity. The price of the phone is what we can expect from a OnePlus phone. It is a bit higher than the previous version with a corresponding bump in specs. On the other hand, the arena of smartphones has shifted in the last few months.

Reviews have been positive but not like the response received by the previous OnePlus smartphones. At a price of $750, 8T is directly competing with smartphones like Galaxy S20 FE priced at $700 that has almost the same features including wireless charging and IP68 rating. OnePlus 8T has IP68 if users purchase the carrier variant from T-Mobile. The smartphone has also changed their skin of OS, now coming with the latest Android 11. The modifications have been better and far away from the “stock” experience of Android which is being considered a step backward by some people.

All in whole, it can be said that OnePlus 8T is not a bad phone. The only difference is that it doesn’t undercut the big names like it used to. Users might consider OnePlus to be among the big names these days. Its not clear regarding who might undercut OnePlus. Users can now pre-order OnePlus 8T and it will be shipped on 23rd October.
