Design-wise, the 2022 Honda HR-V looks extremely different when compared to the outgoing counterpart. It still offers the coupe SUV kind of a look that enhances its road presence to another level. However, coming to the front, it gets a newly designed grille, larger air dam, sleek LED headlamps with DRLs and fog lamps among others.

Also, the bumper of the all-new HR-V is now a larger unit alongside a skid plate at the bottom. As we walk towards the rear end, one can notice a new pair of LED taillamps, a roof-mounted spoiler and a faux skid plate that feels neatly done.

Safety features such as multiple airbags, adaptive cruise control, lane hold assist, traffic signal recognition and traction control will be available on the 2022 HR-V as standard. Meanwhile, Honda will also offer the company’s Sensing Safety Kit that includes pedestrian detection and avoidance alongside collision mitigation braking for enhanced safety.

Engine & Powertrain

The all-new Honda HR-V is expected to come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine alongside two electric motors on offer. Also, the petrol-only variant will be available with the same engine alongside a CVT gearbox for slick shifting.

The engine alone is capable of producing a 129HP alongside a peak torque of 153Nm. It will be available with an all-wheel drive powertrain as well.

Launch in India

Honda has not made any official announcement regarding its launch in India yet. However, if launched here it will be competing against the likes of Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. Both the SUVs are currently available with three engines to choose from including two petrol and one diesel.

The first petrol engine that powers the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit. It is capable of producing 113BHP of power and 144Nm of torque. Also, there is another 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol motor that produces 138BHP of power alongside a peak torque of 242Nm. Last but not the least, is the 1.5-litre diesel engine that churns out a massive 113BHP of power and 250Nm of torque.
