The Czech brand entered the Indian market with the introduction of the Skoda Octavia. Being a popular sedan, the company has timely updated it till the last-gen. Well this time, the launch of the 2021 Skoda Octavia has already been pushed several times due to the ongoing pandemic. But finally, the company is all set to launch it on 10th June.

Exterior & Design

With multiple updates, the 2021 Skoda Octavia feels absolutely premium in terms of design. Using the MQB platform, the company claims that the updated executive sedan is now 19mm longer and 15mm wider when compared to the outgoing counterpart. Interestingly, these new figures have also resulted in an extended boot capacity of 10-litres. This way, the exact boot carrying capacity of the updated Octavia now stands at 600-litres.

Interior & Safety Features

To begin with, the cabin of the updated Skoda Octavia looks absolutely premium with a new dual spoke multi-functional steering wheel. Interestingly, the carmaker has also updated it with features such as the Virtual Cockpit, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof and a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Skoda cars are known for the best in class safety. Therefore, the all-new Octavia is here to retain the legacy. To be precise, it will be available with eight airbags, stability control, ABS with EBD, multiple drive modes, cruise control and semi-auto park assist, etc among others.

Engine & Performance

Details regarding the powertrain of the upcoming Skoda Octavia is confirmed. And as mentioned earlier, it will be available with a 2.0-litre TSI engine. Putting it in numbers, this motor is capable of producing a massive 190HP and 320Nm of peak torque while being mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission.

Skoda India has announced that the Czech carmaker will not be using diesel engines any further. Therefore, expect the all-new Octavia to arrive in a petrol guise only.

Expected Price

Skoda will be revealing the entire pricelist of the all-new Octavia on the day of its launch. However, for an idea, we expect it to get a price tag ranging between Rs.18 Lakhs to Rs.25 Lakhs (average ex-showroom, pan India).

Alternatives

Honda has recently discontinued the last-gen Honda Civic in India. But, no details regarding the launch of the updated one is out yet. For now, the 2021 Skoda Octavia will go head-on against the likes of Hyundai Elantra. However, even the 2021 Honda Civic is expected to join this rivalry soon.
