Design, Styling and Features

Just like the outgoing series, this new one is also available in five trims. The updated range surely reminds you of the Tiger 900 but there are several components to differentiate. Jumping directly to the features, the 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 is loaded with a host of new equipment including an adjustable front shield, 7-inch TFT rider’s display, cornering ABS and all-LED lighting just to name a few.

Hardware

Coming to its hardware, Triumph Motorcycle has used a lighter platform without using the swingarm. Instead, the manufacturer has introduced a bolt-on subframe and tri-link swingarm. Another weight-saving measure in the form of an aluminium fuel tank has considerably helped in dropping the overall weight by 25 kgs when compared to the outgoing model.

Stopping this powerful adventure tourer are the Brembo brakes. For added assistance, they are available with a dual-channel ABS system as well.

Engine & Performance

The most prominent change on the 2022 Tiger 1200 is the new 1160cc three-cylinder engine. For the first time, this unit has been tuned to fire in 1-3-2 (T-Plane) order to produce a massive 150HP and 130Nm of peak torque. To recall, we have already witnessed this effective technology on the Tiger 900 with the engine of course of a slightly smaller capacity. Transmission duties for the new setup on the updated Tiger 1200 will be managed by a 6-speed gearbox that works in conjunction with a slip and assist clutch as standard.

To alter the overall performance, it comes equipped with six ride modes. Also, to improve the overall ride and handling, Triumph has decided to offer electronically adjustable Showa suspensions across the entire range.

Alternatives

Globally, the all-new Triumph Tiger 1200 will go head-on against the likes of Harley Davidson Pan America 1250 and BMW R 1250 GS. Planning to enter this segment? Check out its prime rival – the R 1250 GS to find out which one suits you better.
