SUVs captured the sedan market by storm but there is something about this segment you might or might not be aware of. The full-size proper SUVs have taken a back seat in the past few years if we look at the Indian market. Instead, the sales of compact SUVs have witnessed a significant rise to put other segments to shame.
Recently, Hyundai introduced the 2023 Tucson in India with a price tag starting at Rs.27.7 Lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi). Looking for a compact yet complete five-seater SUV? Let’s take a look at this amazing updated product down below.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- 2023 Hyundai Tucson has finally arrived in India.
- Available with both petrol and diesel engines here.
- To get ADAS and similar features for the first time.
2023 Hyundai Tucson
Exterior, Interior & Features
Just like the model available globally, Hyundai has introduced the exact same design for the Indian market as well. The result is that the SUV now comes with a completely revamped exterior with a ‘Parametric Grille’ and ‘Sensual Design’ as the Korean manufacturer proudly says. Coming to the rear, even the taillamps have received a significant update and thankfully, looks modern enough to compliment the front end.
Inside the cabin, the dashboard feels like a typical Hyundai affair. Hyundai even missed the opportunity to introduce a floating touchscreen infotainment system. Rather, a conventional touchscreen infotainment system is available just like what we witnessed on the Creta. In terms of features, the 2023 Tucson has been loaded with an 8-speaker premium surround sound system, electrically adjustable seats, wireless charger, rain-sensing wipers, etc to name a few.
Engine & Gearbox
Under the hood, there are two engine options on the all-new Tucson. The first one is a known 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that we have already witnessed on the Alcazar and Elantra. Then, Hyundai has also decided to offer a similarly displaced diesel engine that many prospective buyers are expected to route for. As claimed by the brand, the first one is capable of churning out a decent 153 horsepower and 192Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, it is the diesel power unit that propels a massive 183.7 horsepower and 416Nm.
On the new Tucson, transmission duties for the petrol engine are handled by a 6-speed gearbox. Thankfully, the top-end diesel variant is equipped with an 8-speed automatic gearbox with power channelled to all four wheels. To make the entire setup more effective, it also features a terrain management system with three modes, namely – Snow, Mud and Sand.
Safety Aids
Safety on the updated compact SUV is assured by six airbags, parking sensors, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and hill assist. For the first time, Hyundai is going to play on the safety front and that’s why the Korean brand has decided to come up with ADAS features. To be more precise, it comes loaded with features such as Forward Collision Warning & Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist and Blind Spot Warning. There are several other related features to complete this package.
