This is the third SUV by Citroën for India, and the enthusiasm of the French automaker is parallel to when it first entered the Indian market. Of course, C5 Aircross laid the foundation stone for the brand but it was an expensive SUV and therefore, didn’t appeal to the majority of customers. With a positive mindset, the French automaker again tried its luck on the C3, a competitor to the Tata Punch. Well, this time, the response was fair enough.

Now finally trying its hand on India’s most popular, B-SUV segment, Citröen has come up with the all-new Citröen C3 Aircross, a seven-seater alternative to already existing B-SUVs. The list includes best-sellers such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. But is the upcoming C3 Aircross capable of giving all these tall warts a tough time? To find that, let’s check out all the details related to the forthcoming SUV below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Citröen C3 Aircross has made its debut in India.
  • Will rival Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta in future.
  • Available in five and seven-seater configurations.

Exterior & Design

A typical Citröen design language has been carried forward on the C3 Aircross and one might be able to identify the same at least at the front.

Basically, the design team has incorporated a double grille, massive air dams, brand’s Y-shaped LED headlamps and a muscular bonnet hood that stands high to make the SUV’s face a little more confident. Also, to give the side profile a Sports Utility Vehicle-like look, the automaker is offering large wheels, continuously running body cladding and 200mm ground clearance as standard.

The rear profile is basic and comes with headlamps that are LED units. At the bottom, a massive diffuser is there to infuse some sportiness.

In terms of length, C3 Aircross measures 4.3 metres. This way, the space inside is expected to be fair enough to comfortably seat all the passengers and their luggage.

Interior & Features

Just like on the outside, Citröen is very passionate about offering an unmatched user experience on the inside. The dashboard, when compared to the other two models that are already there, feels more mature and now features a seven-inch TFT instrument cluster alongside a colourful ten-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Leaving no stones unturned, the entertainment system offered is world-class and thankfully, will feature screen mirroring, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, at least on the top-end variant.

The other two rows at no point feel confined, thanks to ample space, roof-mounted air-conditioner and sunroof. Further, making it usable are various cupholders, charging sockets and phone racks.

Other than the features, the French automaker has confirmed that the SUV will be available in two different seating configurations: five and seven. The luggage capacity basically will be decided based on what configuration the customer will opt for.

Engine & Transmission

While Citröen has not confirmed the details related to the powertrain, we expect the all-new C3 Aircross to feature a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
