The carmaker has removed Elantra from its website and that’s how we have to bid farewell to this extremely capable sedan. Want to know more about it? Here’s take a look at the details down below.

Hyundai Elantra

Exterior & Design

Just like the rivals, the last generation Elantra was long and wide enough to offer the executive class feel. The front profile of the sedan used to feature a massive grille, sleek LED headlamps, sportier bumper and sculpted bonnet hood. The side profile was flanked by sportier alloy wheels. Meanwhile, it was the rear end that featured the sloping roofline and sleek LED taillamps just to improve the overall stance.

Interior & Features

Inside the cabin, Elantra was one of the most spacious sedans available in India. Thankfully, the Korean brand was also able to maintain the premium feel.

In terms of features, it was available with a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charger, electric sunroof, Infinity surround sound system, dual-zone climate control and smartphone connectivity to name a few.

Engine

Before it was discontinued, Hyundai Elantra was available with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. Although it wasn’t turbocharged, this fuel burner was capable of propelling out a decent 150 horsepower and 192Nm of peak torque.

There was also a fuel-efficient 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine available for sale. If you remember, this is the same motor that powers the new Creta with an overall output rated at 115 horsepower and 250Nm.

Transmission duties for the outgoing model were managed by a reliable 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox depending upon the buyer’s choice.

Alternatives

Earlier, Elantra used to compete with some premium sedans, including Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis and Honda Civic. Want to learn more about the new Octavia? Let’s take a look at it down below.
