Call it an affordable V-Cross, but the new S-Cab Z variant definitely has its own identity. For starters, it undercuts V-Cross by Rs.7 Lakhs, which is the entry-level variant we are comparing here.

Regarding design, the D-Max S-Cab Z is available with minor cosmetic enhancements. The chrome grille, bi-projector LED headlamps, LED DRLs and fog lamps, make the front profile premium. Meanwhile, on either side, the carmaker has decided to offer roof rails, shark fin antenna (with similar treatment to roof rails), multi-spoke wheel covers, Chrome ORVMs with indicators integrated into them, chrome door handles and side steps for easy ingress and egress. The rear has also got a revision in the form of LED taillamps as standard.

Isuzu has confirmed that the D-Max S-Cab Z will be sold in five colours. To be precise, that includes Blue, Black, Grey, Silver and White.

The benefits do not end there as for now we haven’t even started with the features list. The Japanese automaker has claimed that several premium features that we witnessed on the D-Max V-Cross are also a part of the S-Cab Z. The utility vehicle comes loaded with keyless entry, a multi-function steering wheel, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 6-speakers and power windows on all four doors among others.

For the safety of the occupants, it features dual front airbags, ISOFIX for rear seats, speed-sensing door locks and seat belt warning.

The all-new Isuzu D-Max S-Cab Z is powered by the brand’s reliable 2.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. Capable of churning out a decent 78 horsepower and 176Nm, the motor is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox with power channelled to read wheels only.

In India, there is no direct competitor to Isuzu D-Max S-Cab Z in India. However, it is the premium D-Max V-Cross that goes head-on with Toyota’s new product for the Indian market, the Toyota Hilux.
